Dear Backers,
I would like to start off with a HUGE “Thank you”. I would also like to ask for your forgiveness for spelling, punctuation, grammar errors, etc ahead of time.
We are doing well thus far and have obviously far exceeded our goals and it just wouldn’t be possible without your TRUST and SUPPORT….I will not let you down.
I wanted to share with you 3 Main tTopics of this update
1. Holiday Delivery
2. New Product Releases – You asked and we will deliver
3. Products I love
#1 - Holiday Delivery
So I am excited to share that as of last Friday November 10th - 3,000 Habitat Knives have been loaded up and are currently in transport to the port in Los Angeles and are due to arrive on 12/1/17 (my birthday by the way).
Once they clear customs (fingers crossed) they will be transported to Utah to our fulfillment center. Once they arrive (12/7 – 12/9 ) they will be checked in and immediately we will start processing shipment details.
My goal if all goes according to plan is that we will ship out your knives on 12/12 – this allows for plenty of time for delivery hopefully no later than the 12/21. I tried very hard to make sure we produced all 3,000 knives to the highest of standards.
I believe we have accomplished this, BUT there are still things that are totally out of my control. Weather, customers, postal service. These are all obviously outside variables. I am confident and thinking positive thoughts you will all be cutting your holiday dinner with your new knives and loving them.
When the time comes to fill out your backer surveys please do not hesitate as this might cause a delay in your shipment.
#2 - New Product Releases
Over the past few weeks I have received dozens of emails asking me about a knife block to house your Habitat Knives as well as what is the best way to sharpen the knives.
I have been working with my design team and we have developed a beautiful knife block to protect and store the Habitat Knives. As you can see here in the picture (sorry not the best quality picture), that the knives will magnetically connect to the knife block for easy access and looks awesome for display.
In addition, we will have 6 steak knife slots for future development (not shown here - this is a prototype) as well as additional knife slots for future knives as well. Unfortunately, I cannot include this as part of any of the backer tiers due to size, cost and shipping costs, BUT and please pay very close attention here.
Once the campaign ends and I send out your backer survey – You will have an opportunity to purchase the knife block at a discount and just add it to your pledge order. So more to come on this in the very near future
SHARPENING YOUR KNIVES
Obviously one of the main features of the Habitat knives is that they stay sharpen and last longer than most knives and no matter how many times I say it, I always get asked the question.
So how do I sharpen these knives?. The challenge that I had was finding the right type of stone that was strong enough to sharpen the blade without damaging the knife. Typically honing rods, electric sharpening (most) and even certain whetstones will cause more damage than good. So, I searched the globe trying to find in my opinion the best option.
After about 6 months I can say we got it, it is called “Novaculite”. Novaculite is a sedimentary rock composed of more than 99 percent pure silica. The best Novaculite is found in the Ouachita Mtns. of Central Arkansas. This is where our stone will come from.
I was introduced to the owner of a particular mine who has limited access to this stone. I told him what we are up to at Habitat and the type of quality I wanted to produce for our backers. I sent Michael (the owner of the mine) a Chef and Santoku knife to try out.
He called me back a few days later and said it was the best knife he had ever used…I was blown away and excited. He said that we would allow me limited access to enough stone to produce about 1,000 or less Black Novaculite whetstones that come in an engraved wooden box. See image (again these are prototypes – so not the best image quality). I have used this stone at home testing it out and it works great.
The name literally means razor stone. Novaculite is the rarest and finest abrasive stone in existence. It was a very valuable trading item between the Indians and the early French and English explorers and is still considered to this day to be the finest honing material on Earth. It blows anything you might see on Amazon or other websites out of the water.
This type of stone usually sells for well over $99, but of course as current backers I was able to negotiate a great deal if we could commit to at least 1,000, so this is what I did.
Again, these will be available for purchase when I send out the backer surveys in early December
INTRODUCING THE "LEAVE IT TO CLEAVER" - bad joke sorry
As a special bonus I am introducing the Habitat Cleaver to the collection as well. this will be available for April delivery and can be added to your pledge when surveys are sent out. I will have all the specs and details for you at that time.
#3 - Other Products I love!
Hello Backers, Since launching on Kickstarter I have been approached by dozens of other live campaigns asking me to cross-promote their campaigns. Basically, if I send out an endorsement for them, they will in turn send out an endorsement for me. It really is great way to gain additional exposure.
I looked at most of them and narrowed it down to the top 3 that caught my attention. Please take a look at these cool products. Chat soon…and of course as always please contact me/us if you need anything or have questions….chat soon Adam
PRODUCT #1
I absolutely love this idea. This group reached out to me and I instantly fell in love with the idea and the passion behind it. I ordered one myself since they will only print a limited amount of books. What better way to use your new Habitat Knife then with some amazing recipes.

PRODUCT #2
Now this next product does not have to do with food, BUT it has everything to do with staying healthy and working off all those extra calories from eating the recipes out of the "Great British Chefs Cookbook". I really like this idea and plan on backing this project as well.
